Face Painting Tips

Just wondering if there is a way to get something to print out in a light color on dark paper?

I am working on some wedding invitations and I have run into an issue. The cardstock is a dark brown metallic color and I need to figure out a way I can print in a light color so that I will be able to see the template to cut out. I know I cannot do it from my home printer but maybe there is a company or another option for this problem. Please help.

I wish people would stop spamming Vistaprint ads, they're on the site already and have NOTHING to do with people's questions. Sending something to Vistaprint isn't going to do you any good, they don't even communicate except via their website anyways.

Your best bet is to go to a digital printer. Toner sticks on Dark coloured paper far better than ink (which doesn't work at all) and unlike Vistaprint, going to a digital printer will let you preview exactly how your paper will look when its printed.

For speciality prints on my digital press, I've been experimenting with Reich paper's Shine:

Which is similar to what you're describing. You can get some really neat effects and dark undertones from stock like Pewter and Onyx, paper that would NEVER EVER work anywhere else on an inkjet printer.

Try to not use any dark blues or dark purples. They tend not to show up on darker paper very well. Reds, Greens, and light blues are your best bet, stick with RGB colouring.

Even a Kinkos can help you out, but I'm sure there is a mom and pop place that will do it. If they insist that they can't print the paper, (make sure it is usable in a laser printer, not sure where you bought it from) then insist you can use it. Only insist this if it's actual laser paper though They'll give in.

However, I warn you, if you bought your paper from a staples or something like that that was advertised as "WEDDING INVITATION PAPER FOR YOUR INKJET" (like 75% of people who want to do them budget fall for) you're SOL. You can't print on those unless you really feel like working through jams on your inkjet printer. You MUST print them on a laser printer to get any results.
