What type/color of area rug??

I am stuck as to what type and color of area rug to get for our livingroom. We have a burgandy leather sectional and the remainder of livingroom is pretty much black. The floors are a tan and cream color marble. My husband wants to do just plain black but I keep thinking we need to have a design or a little more color in the rug instead of having just a "black" livingroom and that dark sectional. Any idea's of what kind of rug to get? Oh and our walls are a cream color.

don't think i would go with just black, for one thing, any lint will show up quickly. if everything is a solid color in the room, my choice would be a patterned rug incorporating the burgundy, black, cream and maybe a green or dark blue. then use the odd color to add a little bit of interest as accents, like flowers, paintings, vases, pillows..
