Florida Man Sells Trayvon Martin Gun Range Targets (Vibe)

In the latest wave of news concerning the Trayvon Martin case, an entrepreneur
in Orlando has sold gun range targets in the likeness of the gunned-down teen
as a way to profit from the tragedy. Featuring a black hoodie with crosshairs
on the chest, Skittles in the pocket and a hand holding a can that resembles
iced tea, the targets were being sold for eight dollars plus $7.50 for
shipping.

“My main motivation was to make money off the controversy,” the unidentified
seller wrote Orlando‘s Local 6 news station. “The response is overwhelming. I
sold out in two days.”

According to an advertisement for the targets on a firearms auction website,
the seller is a supporter of George Zimmerman, stating “he is innocent and he
shot a thug. For Zimmerman’s attorney Mark O’Mara, this may put his client in
an even worse light.

“It’s the highest level of disgust and the lowest level of civility,” he told
Local 6. “It’s this type of hatred--because that’s what that is, hate-
mongering--that’s going to make it more difficult to actually try this case.”
