When should I switch my 7 month old from rear facing to a front facing carseat?

I think you are supposed to wait until 1 year and 20 lbs.... but she is already 18 lbs and over 25 inches long. Her feet stick out of the carseat and she is really heavy.

Is she still small enough to stay in the regular infant carseat? or can I put her in the large convertible carseat rear facing? Do they do that? Or does it have to face forward?

Both of my daughters were absolutely strong enough before one year. Their feet were smashed against the back seat...so I changed them to a nice cumfy FWD facing car seat before one year. My youngest daughter is only 20 lbs now at 16 months, she's like 29"; very lean. She never minded car rides, but I could tell she really enjoyed seing us up front.
