does this make sense?

I'm trying to tell people how Oaklee and her sister Maggie are playing a game(made up by me) called Loppach.
Here's the part of the book that explains;

We sit on either side of a big rock that's been in our yard since I can remember and sit the leather squares down. I deal out twelve pieces to each of us and we start the game. The point of loppach is to shuffle the leather squares, one person puts one leather piece down, then the other. Each square has a symbol on it and the point is to get the same symbol as the other person, but who ever shouts out "Loppach!" first gets the point.
"Loppach!" I shout with enthusiasm.

This makes no sense at all. Do they shout Loppach when they put down a square that matches one already on the ground?

Are you sure the point of the game is to shuffle the squares or is it to match them? Are the squares in two separate piles? Does one square cover the previous one or are all 12 face up?

Now I'm even more confused.
