It's no April Fool's joke: Actor Ashton Kutcher has signed on to portray Apple
founder Steve Jobs in an independently produced film about the tech visionary,
as interest in Jobs remains high.

Film industry paper "Variety" reported yesterday the "Two and a Half Men"
star, known mostly for his comedic roles, will head the cast of "Jobs," an
indie biopic covering Jobs' transformation from a wayward hippie to the co-
founder of Apple. Joshua Michael Stern, writer and director of 2008?s dramedy
"Swing Vote," will direct the screenplay written by Matt Whiteley.

Kutcher is known primarily in Hollywood as a comedic actor, and gained fame
for his long-running role in "That 70s Show" and slapstick films such as
"Dude, Where's My Car?" A producer of shows such as "Punk'd," Kutcher dabbled
in dramatic roles in features like "The Butterfly Effect," but the Jobs role
will likely be a high-profile experiment for the actor.
