Major problem with WYSIWYG editor
I’ve heard that there was some issues with the new WYSIWYG editor (which can be disabled, by the way, if you so choose), and I had experienced some quirkiness in using it before (such as the cursor moving to unexpected places at times).
But now I’ve experienced what I’d consider a serious bug. Here’s what happened:
- I wrote a bolded paragraph in the middle of my previous post
- I then realized that the cursor wasn’t where I’d expected it to be (at the end of the post) and that my bolded paragraph was in the wrong place
- I then selected the bolded paragraph, and dragged and dropped it at the bottom of the post where it was supposed to go in the first place
- I then wrote another paragraph beneath that with the bolding turned off (i.e., normal font)
The result??
Everything from where the bolded paragraph initially was all through the remainder of ALL of my posts on my blog are now in bold.
Furthermore, the wysiwyg editor still shows the post as intended (with only the single paragraph bolded, despite the fact that when published it is bolding everything in sight - see attached screenshots below)
Holy cow. OK so I’ve now determined there are some serious problems with the WYSIWYG editor when you relocate items by dragging and dropping. Bad enough to say DON’T DO IT. It has now messed up my entire blog, with all of my older entries displaying with bolded text (which I am hoping to fix by going into the HTML of the problematic entry and seeing if I can decipher what’s going on, so don’t be surprised if by the time you’re looking at this, but you can tell what I’m talking about from the below screenshots)
Here’s what it looks like in the WYSIWYG editor (and what it should look like - click on the image to see the full version of it):
And here’s a screenshot of the resulting post when the above was published, showing everything bolded:
