Test post that uses every feature of WordPress 2.0’s new WYSIWYG editor

In this test post I’m going to try each different element of the WYSIWYG editor.

This text should be bolded

Here is some italicized text

Made a mistake? STRIKETHROUGH

This paragraph is to be right justified. I guess I’ll need to do a little bit of extra typing here in order for it to actual be considered a paragraph. Perhaps a few more sentences… Sorry, I’m feeling creatively tapped at the moment.

HERE IS SOME CENTERED TEXT. COOL.

  • I think it’s time to try an unordered list
    • and then indent it
      • and even another level
    • outdent again
  • nice bulleted lists!! Go WP!

  1. Unlike in a wordprocessor, hitting return twice in your bulleted list does not switch you back to default paragraph formatting. you need to turn the bullets off manually..
    1. I wish they gave us a way to customize handling indented Ordered Lists, or outlines. Wonder if that’s something that could be handled with themes? Or is this just a limitiation of HTML
    2. I prefer the number / letter / number / letter format for handling indented portions of ordered lists
      1. indenting once again to see how it handles it
    3. back out again, and it appropriately see’s that this is item number 3 under main item 1
  2. And this is main item number 2. Handled like a champ.

Interestingly, when you hit return twice on a numbered list, it turns the numbering off for you automatically..

Where is the ability to do a blockquote? Are you just supposed to indent the text? And is there no option for full justifying?

Here’s a hyperlink to my blog on blogging. Pop-up box for inserting/editing links is truncated on my system (I’m using winxp and firefox 1.5)

interestingly, clicking the ’split post with more tag’ (which I only knew that was what it was because of the tooltips (nice), caused the editor to move the cursor from where I was to the top of my entry (very confusing, especially if you are in the middle of a long post)

I’m encountering some bugginess in the wysiwyg edit box. Sometimes I hit backspace, and the screen jumps again to elsewhere in my post w/o actually moving the cursor (so if I restart typing, it jumps back to where I actually was)

I’m now going to insert a picture….got an error message. Perhaps we should have been warned in advance to make the wp-content/uploads directory writeable (or, now that I’ve taken a look, that we actually first need to create a folder called ‘uploads’ in the wp-content folder and then make it writeable)? Perhaps I skipped over that in the install notes.. And when I added the folder and made it writeable and then clicked the link to return to image browsing, it removed the info for the file I wanted to upload and I had to browse for it again (hrmph)

I’ll need to check and see if there’s a way to modify the drag and drop of the pictures (which is mighty cool, btw) to not default to thumbnails of the image.. Fortunately, the images are easily resizable with handlebars.
Cat Playing SolitaireHmmm….I just resized my picture, then clicked the image icon to change alignment to ‘Left’, and then realized I didn’t like where the image was located and tried to drag it elsewhere in the post and it flat out disappeared. That’s no good.

I’ll drag it in again. Have you noticed that a number of the paragraphs have a space for their first character? I didn’t put them there — that’s the rich text editor’s barf.  ACTUALLY, saving the post (or publishing it) fixed all those paragraphs which appeared to have an unwanted leading space.  They’re no longer in my edit box OR in the actual published post (which is the key part).
