Does this tote/duffel look good for 9th grade?

So, I was researching tote bags and stuff on Etsy and a lot of them just said the depth was 3''. That was wayyyy too small so I found a nice one and the seller offers to do custom orders so I asked her for this tote to be 9 inches deep I think. Would this be ok (and I'll be getting it in gray)

I know $44 is a splurge but I need something really well made.
and I won't be putting this in my locker, I'll be carrying it around to and from classes all day because I do not want it getting stolen. in my locker, i'll just put my books in it because it is approximately i foot, my locker. sad i know.
and a i meant a foot for my locker, as in 12 inches.
