belt, writer/director James Mangold is hard to pigeonhole. The same can be
said for his 2001 time travel romance **Kate & Leopold**. Though it trades in

returning home with Leopold (Hugh Jackman, **The Prestige**), the Duke of
Albany, in tow. As Leopold adjusts to life in new New York, he is presented

I'm having trouble belting...?

The break between my chest and head voice is at around an A4. It seems like every other woman in the universe can easily belt the C above middle C or higher, and it drives me crazy. I think I'm a contralto, mostly because I have kind of a unique sound and I'm much more comfortable singing low. In fact, I prefer singing songs sung by men rather than women. Because 80% of the time there are notes in those songs that require me to use my head voice. I love my head voice, it's easy for me and I think it sounds good, but it seems like NO one ever uses JUST their head voice anymore! It's always belting and blah.. which I cannot do for some reason! I understand you have to find a "mix" between your chest and head, but even when I'm singing an A4 it feels like a mix, and then I go straight into head voice. Is anyone else's break this low? I feel so abnormal! And what can I do to find my mix?

It's definitely normal, my break starts at B4 and I'm an alto as well. To belt above that, sing like Julia Child talks, with your soft palate raised. It'll sound weird to you, but it sounds awesome to everyone else.
